This home in Windermere is a perfect example of what a deep cleaning can do for your travertine floor. We only use products that are proven for stone care, and are mild enough for you to stay in the house while we clean. Cleaning includes a perimeter scrub, grout cleaning, and speed drying to ensure the job is done. This floor was also sealed with a penetrating sealer to ensure longevity and protection against stains.
This home in Winter Park shows what happens over time when the installer sands the raised tile edges to make the floor “flatter”. The sanding open holes in the travertine that then quickly fill with soil. Cleaning will help the appearance, however in a high traffic home, the area(s) would need to be filled.
This homeowner in Windermere had another company clean his floors and he wasn’t impressed. So we did a test spot to show what we could do, and the difference is remarkable. We sealed his travertine after cleaning.
Results like this cleaning travertine are normal. This homeowner in Bay Hill was happy.
We can clean outdoor travertine installations as well. This homeowner in Ocala had over 30,000 square foot that we clean and sealed with a penetrating sealer.
This beautiful home in Windermere we sealed after installation.
Improper application of penetrating sealers is very common. Weather it is a enhancing sealer designed to enhance, or darken the stone, or non- enhancing, they all are designed to GO INTO THE STONE, NOT ON THE STONE. This is an example of what happens as time passes, the excess sealer was not designed or formulated to be a topical sealer, so it will scratch easily and become embedded with soil quickly.
Clean Image of Orlando did a test spot to show the homeowners in Longwood the difference, as they couldn’t believe it, that’s what they wanted. The enhancing sealer they applied was imparting a cloudy shine. A natural polishing, not wax type, will always have a clearer, deeper shine because the light is reflecting from the crystals within the stone.
Penetrating sealers are not designed to change the level of reflectivity.
This homeowner in Orlando called because she wasn’t happy after another company sealed her newly installed travertine. As you can see from the close-up in the before pictures, there was hair embedded in the excess sealer. She also didn’t like the waxy feel of her stone. In this case, we went thru approximately 50 razors to get the majority of it up before polishing the travertine. The right side of the before shows all the excess sealer that was applied.
Again, penetrating sealers go into the stone, not onto the stone. They protect from the inside out.
This is typical of what a topical sealer looks like when applied to a factory filled Travertine floor installation. Usually a topical sealer is applied to cover or hide other shortcomings of the installation or to create a higher gloss than with what the travertine came with. As you can see, since the sealer is softer than the stone surface, it scuffs, scratches and will marks when furniture is slid across it. We at Clean Image of Orlando recommend Impregnating sealers for factory filled square edge Travertine installations.
